Orthodontic Treatments for Children in Lethbridge: When Should My Child See the Orthodontist?

Downtown Orthodontics offers orthodontic treatments for children at our Lethbridge office. Organizations such as the Canadian and American Associations of Orthodontists recommend that a child should have an orthodontic evaluation at around age 7, or at the first appearance of any specific orthodontic difficulty. By age 7, most children will have permanent molars present. These teeth can offer specific information about the type of bite the child will develop, and whether any bite problems may occur.

Early evaluation allows timely treatment that can have the maximum positive effect, and potentially reduce the severity of future problems. If a child does not have any specific orthodontic problem, a program of yearly monitoring can assist in the detection and management of any future bite difficulties.
